About us


Pathanamthitta Jilla Sangamam (PJS) is a non-profitable, non-political, and non-religious cultural organization working towards the betterment of the social lifestyle of the Malayalees especially Pathanamthitta natives in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The main objective of this association is to provide social and charity works to the Malayalee community in Jeddah as well as back to Kerala. PJS provides a platform for its members to meet and exchange views and to foster friendship, goodwill, and understanding among its members and provides opportunities for cultural, and entertainment activities of its members.

PJS was formed on January 9th, 2009 with 21 members. 1st General body meeting was conducted on 27/03/2009 with a strength of 100 members and successfully completed its three years. PJS is a registered organization under the Indian consulate, Jeddah, and working together with other associations in Jeddah. Currently the Association boasts of over 350 members and this number are growing. Our organization has been run by the member’s contributions and sponsorship from goodwill people.

PJS holding a written by-law which is approved by the general body. PJS executive committee is the highest body in the organizational structure to take and implement decisions concern to the organization. There are many subcommittees working under PJS executive committee including finance, welfare, cultural, sports, and ladies wing. A musical troop was started to keep the community’s repertoire of musical talents well represented in the various events.

PJS mainly aims to provide charity services to the people in need. PJS has been offering financial aid to our members in need and also for our less fortunate countrymen back in India, especially in Kerala, which includes financial assistance for medical treatments, education, etc of the deserving family. We were able to extend our help to the deceased members of our association during the last three years.

The major events for the year include  Eid, Onam and Christmas Celebrations, Arts & sports Day, Family get together and Annual meets. Other events such as seminars, debates, etc are organized by the organization to keep the community active during the year. PJS provides a platform for its members to meet and exchange views and to foster a spirit of friendship, goodwill, and understanding to bind the community together by promoting and preserving its identity, traditions, and values. PJS also allows the students of the community to participate via PJS Balajana Sangamam (PJSB). This dynamic subgroup participates in the parent events and also conducts events of its own.

The PJS Annual Magazine – PJS releases an annual magazine during the second annual meet celebrations in 2010. PJS makes an effort to include in the magazine articles, short stories, poems, cartoons and other forms of literature from renowned personalities in Kerala as well as its members and well-wishers
